Zealon E. Halsey died September 26, 2016 at home.
He was born May 20, 1932 in Creswell, NC to the late John and Mildred Halsey. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper in the Korean War. He married Catherine Goodpasture Halsey in December of 1957, who survives. They had one child, Michael J. (Lisa) Halsey of Nashville; two grandchildren, Caitlin Halsey Schober of Gladeville, Logan Halsey of Imibari, Japan; and one great-grandchild, Isabella Schober of Gladeville.
He was one of thirteen children. He was predeceased by brothers, Johnny and Leon and sisters, Lydieth and Mary Jean. He is survived by Glenn Halsey, Juanita Stillman, Dorothy Krank, Ann Kent, Frances Harris, Patricia Ambrose, Sheila Scott, and Cynthia Vann. He was much loved and will be missed by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Zealon, a.k.a. PaPa Peach, Z, and Zip, retired from the Bell Telephone System after forty years. He spent many hours on his boat. He was a faithful member of the Goodlettsville Church of Christ and Telephone Pioneers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. with a Celebration of Zealon's Life to follow. All will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 E. Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075 hendersonvillefh.com 615-824-3855. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
