Yvonne Lois Puntine Hohe, age 74, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021, at her home in Watkinsville, Georgia. Yvonne was born March 8, 1947, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Francis and Esther Puntine. She was a 1965 graduate of Minot High School, Minot, North Dakota, and attended Wesley Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in school years 1965-66 and 1966-67. While in Minneapolis, she worked in the publication department (Decision Magazine) of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. She married Robert (Bob) Hohe in Minneapolis on September 1, 1967. Yvonne and Bob moved to Spokane, Washington, after the wedding and remained there until early August, 1970. They moved to Alexandria, Virginia, for an employment opportunity in Washington D.C. for Bob. Their son, Van, was born September 15, 1970.
It was shortly thereafter that Yvonne began her long term employment with the Federal Government where she worked at Defense Fuel Supply in Alexandria, Virginia. In 1978 the family moved to Athens, Georgia, where Yvonne worked for the US Environmental Protection Agency until her retirement on January 1, 2010.
Yvonne was truly a North Dakota girl. She loved her home state. Her first home was on the Cannonball Indian Reservation where her father was employed at the general store owned by his nephew, Forest Otis. Her mother was a school teacher and, following job opportunities available at the time, the family had the opportunity to live in a number of North Dakota towns the last being Minot where they moved in 1956.
Yvonne loved people. She especially loved children. She was very involved in children's ministries at First Assembly of God (now Church at College Station) in Athens. She was a mentor at the Athens-Clark County school system for a number of years. She loved entertaining; she loved having all of her son's friends over regardless of the number or time of day. She loved being known as "Van's Mom." Of all of her loves, she loved Jesus. He was priority #1 in her life. Her license plate was YTJ (Yvonne Trusts Jesus). She is with him now.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Van (Carrie); grandsons, Hayden and Hudson; sister, Margaret Setter (Bruce); niece, Kristy Weeks (Bob); nephew, Peder Setter; sisters-in-law, Francine Brandvold (Mark), and Patricia Lauche (David) and many other cousins, and family. A small family service will be held at a future date at the Hendersonville Memorial Gardens in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Memorial contributions may be made to one of the following organizations: Langham Partnership (Langham.org) or Wycliffe Bible Translators (Wycliffe.org).
