William M. Wadsworth, Jr. of Monroe, GA passed peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, April 9, 2021. He was born on February 7, 1943 in Atlanta, GA to the late William Wadsworth, Sr. and Doris W. Steffey. He attended Dupont Manual High School in Louisville, KY and the University of Louisville. He enlisted in the United States Army during his college years and was honorably discharged after completion of boot camp at Fort Knox Kentucky. After boot camp, Bill married the love of his life, Beverly, and started his career with the L&N Railroad in Louisville while finishing his college degree. Bill was a prominent figure in multiple churches where he held membership, starting at Farmdale Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, continuing at Rainbow Park Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, GA, and ending at Indian Lake Peninsula Church in Hendersonville, TN. He held multiple leadership positions, including Minister of Music, Interim Minister of Music, Deacon, and Sunday School leader and teacher.
Bill believed that each of us has an individual talent that is to be used for God's glory, and he used his daily whether directing a choir, leading prayer, car-pooling to work or simply listening to his kids after a long day.
Bill is preceded in death by his beloved Beverly, mother Doris and father William Sr. He is survived by three children, Jason (Jennifer), Jayne (Roy) and Jessica (Ted), grandchildren Jackson, Emily, Cooper and Anna, and half-brother Mark Wadsworth with whom he had recently reconnected.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Indian Lake Peninsula Church, 235 Indian Lake Road, Hendersonville, TN. The family will receive friends at 10:30am and the service will begin at 11. All are invited to stay for lunch following the service in the Family Life Center at the church.
