HUSKINS, Willard Charles. Passed away on January 3, 2012 at the age of 80. Born on December 6, 1931 in Marion, North Carolina. Served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Missouri as a gunner and as a medic in Japan during the Korean War.
He was the son of the late Wilford Columbus Huskins, Jr. and Jenny Robertson Huskins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Kling Huskins. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Green Huskins; children, Steve Donna Huskins, Karen Tim Crumley, Terry Ed Rappuhn, grandchildren, Tanner Huskins, Hannah Huskins, Joseph Deanna Crumley, Rhonda Crumley, Tashina Fred Gifford, Heather Brandon Croft, Allison Rappuhn and Andrew Rappuhn, and 3 great-grandchildren.
A long-term resident of Nashville, he previously lived in Chattanooga. He was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and member of Brook Hollow Baptist Church. He was a retired bank vice president and trust officer. He had many hobbies in retirement, including cooking, making jewelry, wood carving, and gardening. He was a gentle man, but also strong, caring and honest. He was greatly loved by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wesley Emfinger, Dr. Mark Peacock and their staff, Baptist Hospital Pulmonary Rehab patients and staff, and staff in the Baptist Hospital MICU.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Brook Hollow Baptist Church, 678 Brook Hollow Road, Nashville, TN 37205. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time at the church. The interment will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Middle TN Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Brook Hollow Baptist Church.
