Virginia C. Smiley, 73, of Midway, GA and formerly of Hendersonville, passed away March 28, 2017 at Bryan County Health and Rehab, Richmond Hill, GA. Born in Scott County, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Robert and Maggie (Arnold) Rhoton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smiley, Sr; and a daughter Gwen Gereld. Virginia worked in department store management for several different stores over her career. A devout Christian she loved gospel music and had wonderful outlook on life. She truly enjoyed food and going out to eat and would be thought of as a "foodie" today. She also enjoyed the beach and shopping. She derived her greatest pleasure from her family and thought the world of her grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her children, Louanne Sweet (Gary) of Virginia Beach, VA, Donna Brazzell (Ronald) of Gallatin, TN and Robert Smiley, Jr. of Hendersonville, TN; six grandchildren, including Chara Bale (George) with whom she lived in Midway; and 2 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Judy Morse. Visitation will be Saturday, April 1,2017 from 6-8 pm and Monday April 3, 2017 from 1-2 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home 353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, TN. A celebration of Life Service will be held Monday at 2 pm followed by entombment at Hendersonville Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
