Vicki Chestine Honeycutt

May 30, 1944 — August 13, 2024

Mt. Juliet

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vicki Chestine Honeycutt, née Pennington, on August 13, 2024, in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.

Vicki was born on May 30, 1944, in Columbia, Tennessee, to Chester and Sarah Pennington. She was preceded in death by her parents, along with her brother Kenneth Pennington. She is survived by her beloved sons Jim Honeycutt (Chris) and John Honeycutt (Bonnie), along with her brothers Larry Pennington (Linda) and Charles Ray Pennington. She leaves behind one grandson, Jonah Savage, plus nieces and nephews Chet Riley, Kimberly Speciale (Rob), Kelly Pennington, Amanda Scott (Stephen), Sarah Pennington, and several great nieces and nephews.

In early April, Vicki had the first of what would turn out to be a series of several strokes. Her family thought she would pull through at first, but the subsequent strokes in such a short time took their toll. She spent her final months in a memory care facility under hospice supervision.

Vicki had a strong love of words, word puzzles, and books. She read voraciously and was always doing crossword puzzles. She was fiercely competitive, loved watching golf and college football, and she would always cheer for Alabama where she spent much of her early life. She later enjoyed a long career serving in an administrative role with Point Loma Nazarene University in California.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Vicki's life at a private family residence in San Diego, California, on September 7th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. We encourage attendees to come and share fond memories and stories that honor her memory. If you wish to attend, kindly reach out to either John or Jim for further details.

In accordance with Vicki's wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes will be lovingly scattered in a private ceremony in Tennessee.

Her family would like to extend gratitude to the kind-hearted caregivers who provided love and support during Vicki's short stay at Maristone of Providence, and also to the compassionate hospice providers with Amedysis.
