Dr. Tommy Hamblen Crunk of Gallatin, Tennessee went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 12, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Tommy was born on September 22, 1951, to Forrest and Barbara Crunk of Portland, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Portland High School in 1969, the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1973 and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1976.
Tommy was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend. He was an active member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Connect Group Leader for the Davis/Mason/Crunk Connect Group.
He practiced medicine for 42 years in Springfield, Tennessee at NorthCrest Hospital. His passion for medicine, his steadfast faith and love for his patients was obvious from the moment you met him. While at NorthCrest Hospital he served as Chief of Staff and on the Board of Trustees.
Tommy was an instant friend who never met a stranger and left an impact on countless lives. He was generous with his time, talent, and treasures. He had a wide range of interests and was known for his amazing Toyland Christmas decorations and Nativity Scenes displayed in Springfield and at First Baptist Church Hendersonville. He loved teaching, gardening, woodworking and hosting grand parties as well as cheering on the Tennessee Vols.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Forrest and Barbara Crunk; his brother Billy Crunk, and his nephew Cary Crunk. He is survived by his wife, Susan, his daughters Jennifer (Ross) Wetzel and Dr. Elizabeth Crunk. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie Jo and Jim Wiseman; and sister-in-law, Brookie Crunk. He was a “Weirdly Awesome” uncle to Danny and Tracey Wiseman, Courtney Wiseman, Carter and Ashton Wiseman, Laurie and Ed Britton, Christina, Alex and Zoey Osborne, Cathy, Melissa and Catherine Crunk.
Visitation will be held April 3, from 3:00-6:00 pm at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, 353 E. Main St, Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Visitation will be on April 4, from 12:00- 2:00 pm in the Worship Center of Hendersonville First Baptist Church, 106 Bluegrass Commons Blvd, Hendersonville, followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm.
The Davis/Mason/Crunk connect group members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
