Thomas Irving McAuley "Pops", 75, of Hendersonville died July 19, 2014 after suffering a second stroke. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.E. and Mary Elizabeth McAuley; brother, James McAuley; wife, Joy Bryson McAuley. He is survived by his sons, Tim (Susan) McAuley of Gallatin; Tommy (Rachel) McAuley of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Anne Martin, Sam, Grant, Griffin and Mary McAuley; brother, Robert McAuley of Anderson, SC.
Tom was born on Feb. 9, 1939 in Memphis, TN. He attended Freed-Hardeman College, and was a graduate of David Lipscomb College. He worked in the banking/finance business for over 40 years. Tom was an honorable man who loved the Lord and his church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Shackle Island Church of Christ. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies included golf, Alabama football, singing and his grandchildren. His favorite food was chocolate. Tom will be forever remembered for his strength and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Active pallbearers will be Tim, Tommy, Grant, Griffin and Sam McAuley. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert McAuley, Bill Bryson, John Sims, Roy High, Charles Appleton, Bill Ward, Dennis Johnson and David Wilson. A life celebration ceremony will be held Thursday, July 24 at 11am at Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Brother David Swanger officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23 from 2-8pm and one hour before the service on Thursday.
