Thomas C. Marlin, Sr. "Tommy", 85, of Hendersonville, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Marlin, sister, Anna Honeycutt, grandson, Brandon Wix, and sister-in-law, Norma Marlin. Survived by his son, Tommy Marlin, Jr. (Dawn), daughter, Sharon Wix, grandchildren: Brittany Traylor (Will), Chelsea Henley (Matt), Macy Nelms (Louis), great-grandchildren: Dawson, Jude and Finley Traylor, brother, Eddie "Bubba" Marlin and sister, Peggy Wilder (Bobby) along with his Chihuahua, BAILEY. Tommy is also survived by many extended family and friends.
Tommy was born in Nashville on January 11, 1933. He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956 and was a Korean War Veteran. Following his service he worked for Southcentral Bell then moved into county politics. He served as a tax assessor and retired as a County Executive for Sumner County after 40 plus years in county politics. Tommy was also a professional wrestler and special referee for many decades. He was also a member of Hendersonville Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and greeter. He enjoyed fishing, chewing tobacco, and all sports. Tommy was an honest man who loved to tell stories and loved his family. He loved everyone, and everyone loved him.
A Celebration of Life service for Tommy will be held at Hendersonville Church of Christ on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:00PM, officiated by family friend, Thomas Henley. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM. Private family burial will follow the service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tommy's name can be made to Hendersonville Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will include: Michael Douglas, Asa Douglas, Eli Douglas, Matt Henley, Louis Nelms, Will Traylor, Buddy Bruce and Jon Wilkey.
