Steven M. Simerka

Steven M. Simerka, 63, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024. Steven was born on February 18, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan to Charles Frank and Dorothy (Healey) Simerka.

Steven’s personality was larger than life; he was able to turn any acquaintance into a life-long friend. Steven was an avid sports fan; he loved playing and coaching basketball, golf, football, and boating and continued to grow stronger through weightlifting. Off the court, Steven frequently showcased his impeccable pipes during late-night karaoke sessions.

Steven married the love of his life, Nicole Tidwell, on November 4, 1995. Steven and Nicole shared 29 years of love and laughter together. Family was the most important part of Steven’s life. He loved to spend his time with Nicole and his children Sloan and Steven at home, on the basketball court, or on the lake. His love, laughter and smile will be forever missed.

Steven graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, then studied at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania to earn certification as an Investment Analyst. He established a long and successful career in helping families to achieve financial security, with forty years dedicated to Investments Advising. Most recently, he served as a Financial Planner with Prudential Securities.

Steven is preceded in death by his father Charles Frank Simerka. He is survived by his loving wife Nicole (Tidwell), his mother Dorothy Simerka, daughter Sloan Simerka, son Steven Simerka II, sister Barbara Simerka, brother Charles T. (Rosa Dye) Simerka, niece Keira Vollandt, and his father and mother-in-law Buddy and Pat Tidwell. In addition, he is survived by a large extended family and a vast community of friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 4pm-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 2pm with visitation starting at 12pm until service time. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
