WALKER, Steve Lewis - Age 84 years, passed away on November 24th, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born in Johnson City, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents Lorene Donoho Walker and Robert Taylor Walker of Nashville, TN. He was a member of the Belle Meade United Methodist Church. He attended Hillsboro High School in Nashville, TN and served in the United States Navy from 1944 - 1946 where he served in the Pacific area during World War II aboard mine sweepers. He attended Sawanee Military Academy, David Lipscomb University and graduated from the University Of Georgia School Of Pharmacy in 1958. After graduation he owned a pharmacy in Nashville for many years before going to work for Revco Drugs where he was employed for 20 years. The last seven years before his retirement he was employed with Eckerd Drugs. He was a mentor to several young pharmacists throughout his career and has remained friends with them over the years. He and his wife Betty were blessed to have been happily married for 41 years and fortunate to have been able to travel to countries all over the world together. He is survived by his beloved wife Betty Waites Walker. Daughters: Robin John Arends of Knoxville, TN, Terry Randal Pardue of Nashville, TN., Emily John Thomas of Ft. Myers, FL., and son, Steve Barbara Walker, Jr. of Winter Garden, FL. Brother in Law, Weldon Sharon Waites of Columbia, SC. Nephews: Gene and Douglas Waites of Columbia, SC. Nieces: Lisa Madison Dye and Mandy John McCabe both of Columbia, SC. Great Nephews: Jamey Dye, John McCabe Jr., Mitchell McCabe, and Charles McCabe. Great Nieces: Amanda Dye, Ellie and Madison Waites. Cousins: Buddy and Elizabeth Canipe of Ashville, NC. June Futrell, Joe Janie Empson and Susie Channing Workman all of Nashville, TN. Special Aunt: Mildred Lemond of Columbia, SC. Special Friends: Larry Nancy Crawford, Stephanie & Kasondra Farmer and Janie Carden.In Lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Alive Hospice 1719 Patterson St. in Nashville, TN or Belle Meade United Methodist Church 121 Davidson Road in Nashville, TN. Visitation with the family and a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday November 27th, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at West Harpeth Funeral Home .Burial will be held at a later date in Columbia, SC.
