COLE, Shirley Marie Jackson- Obedient daughter, loving minister's wife, beloved mother, teacher, accountant and gardener, died at her home, Pine Haven, on Thursday, November 29, 2012. Born August 16, 1922, at home in Detroit, MI, to James Allen Jackson, son of Andrew Johnson Jackson and Mary Jones Jackson of Brentwood, Williamson County, TN, and Clara Louise Owens Jackson, daughter of Morris Thomas Owens and Cynthia Jane Campeau Owens Bullock of Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. Sibling, Owen Dean Jackson, Sr. of Dickson, TN. Preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Marion Cole of Winchester, TN, married on March 15, 1952, at Peoria, IL; daughter, Lucille Annette Cole. Survived by children, Cheryl Ann Cole, Winchester, TN, Janie Louise Cole Danny Hunt, Dickson, TN; grandchildren, Cynthia Lynn Hunt, Nebraska, April Rene Hunt David Wallace, TN; niece and nephew, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Graduated Marysville High School, Marysville, MI, 1940, as a member of the National Honor Society and editor of the school paper. She immediately began work giving aid and comfort to the World War II effort including working in aircraft plants and for the American Red Cross, serving as air raid warden, and performing other needed activities while continuing her education. An avid genealogist, she was a member of the American Rosie the Riveter Association, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her hands were rarely idle. She enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, fishing, rock hounding and camping with her family. She grew, harvested and preserved much of her own food. She was an avid prize-winning quilter. She was a proficient knitter and continued sharing her creations with friends and family throughout the United States and Canada until her death. With her daughter, Cheryl, they co-authored two books and she assisted her daughter in other writing projects. Her accomplishments in life were many but the focus of her life was the Lord's church and its mission. She taught ladies' and children's Bible classes, spoke at ladies' days and evangelism workshops, and participated in evangelistic campaigns in addition to helping her father and husband in other church and missionary functions throughout the United States and Canada. A life celebration service will be 2 pm on Monday, December 3, 2012 with visitation starting at 11am at Owen Chapel Church of Christ, 1011 Franklin Rd., Brentwood.
