Shawn Robert Baker
October 4, 1971 – March 26, 2023
Shawn peacefully entered the kingdom of heaven with his family by his side. He was a quiet and unassuming man who made an incredible impact on those he met. His last 8 months were in the Vanderbilt CVICU after receiving heart and liver transplants. He changed the way adult CHD will be treated in the future. He fought a good fight, and his family will remain eternally grateful for the care he received.
A 1990 graduate of Beech Senior High School and Volunteer State Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business, he was a home builder, real estate agent, and enjoyed restoring old cars. He continued to use his skills in both through hobbies by creating dioramas and model cars.
He was a Tennessee Volunteer and Peyton Manning fan. He enjoyed UT football and basketball, and his NFL team was the Indianapolis Colts (Peyton). He was also a collector of vintage metal lunch boxes and enjoyed searching for them in antique malls and on ebay.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Mary and Mike Sottile & Janet and Curtis Baker; uncles Steve Baker, Tim Baylor and Michael Sottile.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Susan Sottile Baker, Hendersonville, TN, father Stanley (Sue) Baker, Lebanon, TN, and his loving sister, Katherine Baker Vandiver of Bowling Green, KY and step-brother Keith Snyder, Satellite Beach, FL. Uncles Stuart (Jill) Baker, Peter (Pat) Baker, Phillip (Jack) Baker Padovano; and Aunt Karen (Tim) Reece. He is also survived by several cousins, extended family and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life service held on Saturday, April 15th at Community Church of Hendersonville, 381 West Main St. Hendersonville. Visitation at noon until the service begins at 2:00 pm. Asking those who attend his Celebration of Life to feel free to wear Orange and White for his Vols! In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Brett Boyer Foundation. They research treatment advances for adult CHD patients and this was important to Shawn. https://www.thebrettboyerfoundation.org/donate
