Sandra Jean Dower Keenan, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. She was born on June 2, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Maratha Ekstrum Dower and Harold Lewis Dower, Sr. Sandra is also preceded in passing by the father of her children, Patrick Keenan. Sandra’s maternal grandparents were both Swedish immigrants. She was always very proud of her Swedish heritage and her home state of Minnesota.
Sandra is survived by children, Timothy Drummond Keenan, Kathleen Lee Keenan, Peter Murray Keenan (Yhet Keenan), John Patrick Keenan, and James Overstreet Keenan; grandchildren, Jackson Keenan and Patrick Keenan; and brother, Harold Lewis Dower, Jr.
A graduate of St. Cloud Technical High School in Minnesota, Sandra held the title of Homecoming Queen proudly. She was also Vice-President of the student council, in the National Honor Society, and on the school newspaper staff. She also used her talents in the Choir & Art Club and was Chair of the Homecoming and Career Day Committees. She then spent three years as a student at the University of Minnesota Majoring in Journalism before she married fellow student Patrick Keenan. Sandra worked for over 30 years at Marshals, Michaels, and Hudson News at BNA (Nashville International Airport) before retiring in 2015.
Sandra had a multitude of hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment from reading, jigsaw puzzles, sewing, gardening, shopping, and swimming. She was also a sports enthusiast who was always cheering for the Cubs and Twins baseball, Predators hockey, and Tennessee Volunteers. Sandra enjoyed traveling with family, especially to the beach. The holidays were especially special to Sandra, filled with love, laughter, and a spirit of togetherness. Above all, she was happiest when spending time with her family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place immediately following the visitation. Burial will take place at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
