Sam Dabbs, Jr., also known to many as "Poppy", -age 86, of Hendersonville, TN went home to be with the lord on July 21, 2016. He was born on August 12, 1929 in Lobelville, TN. He was one of 12 children. Mr. Dabbs was a commercial construction superintendent for over 35 years with WF Holt & Son and later Maddux Builders. He was a member of Hendersonville Lodge#359 F&AM.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Dabbs and parents, Sam and Flora Kirk Dabbs; siblings, Robert Dabbs, Reida Cotham, Julia Floeter, Bonnie Dabbs, Rex Dabbs, Nolan Dabbs, Olan Dabbs.
He is survived by daughters, Lynn (Dave) Baker of Lakeland, FL and Kim (Joe) Dorris of Greenbrier, TN; grandchildren, Sammy & Shelby Dorris and Will & Christy Baker, 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Betty Faye McCaig, Kyra Petty, Billy Ray Dabbs, and Reid Dabbs.
A celebration of life service will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 1pm in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville.
