Sally Anne Kaler, 85 of Cottontown, TN, the wife of Edwin (Eddie) Kaler, passed away at Vanderbilt Hospital unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 due to a blocked heart artery.
Born on October 13, 1938 in Ironwood, Michigan, Sally was the beloved daughter of Lester and Helen Johnson, and sister to Don Johnson. She focused on her studies, maintaining all “A’s”, and graduated from Pershing High School, Detroit, in 1956.
On August 29, 1959, Sally married Edwin Kaler in Detroit. They enjoyed over 64 years of marriage with highlights of season tickets to see the Nashville Predators, enjoying time with friends, and serving their church, community and those around them. Sally treasured time with her children and grandchildren; she remembered the tiniest details shared and would incorporate them in future conversations to ensure you felt seen and loved.
Sally loved the Lord with all her heart and lived out her faith through various methods. Within the church, this included serving as a member of Truth Lutheran in Detroit and later at St. Timothy’s Lutheran in Hendersonville, joining the choir, participating in prayer groups, volunteering to deliver meals, joining the Welcoming Committee and being a Sunday School Teacher.
In her work career, Sally worked as the front desk receptionist at various places. She was the first person a customer would encounter, giving her the opportunity to show Christ by her kindness, smile, and ability to make everyone feel special.
Sally was an excellent cook, master card game player, avid Days of Our Lives fan and cheerleader to all her grandchildren in the various sports and activities they partook in.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Margaret Ozga, and great-grandchild Maximilamo Escobar.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edwin Kaler; her children, Michael (Julie) Kaler, Cheryl Escobar-Kaler, and Tania (Tim) LeBel; her grandchildren, Lindsay Kaler, Matthew (fiance Grace Piche) Kaler, Michael J. Kaler, Gabriel (Adriana) Escobar, Sebastian Escobar, Amanda LeBel, Brian LeBel, and Peter LeBel; great grandchild Valentina Escobar. As well as her brother, Don (Eileen) Johnson, brother-in-law Larry Ozga, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church’s Blessing Box or Alzheimer’s Association.
