Ruth Scott passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 86. Ruth was born on May 2, 1938, in Bowling Green, Kentucky to the late Granvill and Etta Simmons, being the youngest of 14 siblings. Ruth's life was marked by her deep faith as a devout 7th Day Adventist and her commitment to her family and friends.
Ruth attended the Highland Adventist Church in Portland, Tennessee. She also attended Highland Academy; it was there that she met Jerry, the father of her cherished children. Ruth was a proud mother who nurtured and encouraged her children throughout their lives. Her legacy of love and support will remain a guiding light for them.
Ruth was not only a dedicated mother but also a passionate artist and crafter, showcasing her creativity through oil painting, ceramics, quilting, crochet, and knitting. She had a unique ability to bring beauty into the lives of those around her, whether through her artistic endeavors or her remarkable culinary skills. Ruth was known as an amazing cook.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Ruth was everyone's confidant and encourager. Her open heart and listening ear made her a treasured friend to many. She had a profound appreciation for music, specifically country and gospel music. She enjoyed Merle Haggard and Vince Gill. In her latter years, the gospel albums Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley brought her comfort. Additionally, Ruth was a pioneer in self-care, inspiring those around her to prioritize their well-being. Ruth loved getting her hair done by Ms. Shirley and alsohaving her nails done. She also enjoyed a relaxing massage.
Ruth is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse Scott, of Jackson, Tennessee, and her 13 siblings, whom she held dear to her heart. She also leaves behind memories of her beloved Maltese, Cody, who brought her immense joy.
Ruth is survived by her children, Tony Bryan Jones, JerryKent Jones, and Kristy Jones Clay.
Ruth Scott will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her, but her legacy of love will forever remain in their hearts.
