Ruby Nell Shearon Jarrell, daughter of the late Alva Cage "Big Daddy" and Mary Shearon, was born March 19, 1923 in Nashville, TN and went to the Lord on April 2, 2016 in a peaceful departure.

In 1942, she was married to Norris "Gabby" Jarrell, culminating in sixty-three beautiful years until his passing eleven years ago. They were blessed with three children. Ruby was a devout Christian and charter member of Bluegrass Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN. Though she retired from Porter Paints, she was an employee of Hendersonville Funeral Home until her passing. Ruby was a woman known by most of the community in which she lived, and beloved for her sweet, yet sassy nature.

Her work at the funeral home, household chores, and maintaining her weekly routine kept Ruby in motion to the last. She enjoyed staying busy, and wasn't much for idleness. Every task she undertook had to be done to perfection. To put it simply, she was a no nonsense lady of class. Ruby, a woman of traditional values, morals, and faith, often found herself in conflict with "the younger generation." Her legacy as a spitfire will live on in our memory.

The family recalls memories of her routine that would easily bring a smile to anyone's face. Regularly, she burned her toast until it was unrecognizable and she liked her meat to be cooked as well as humanly possible. Though she never loved to cook, she will be remembered for her tasty "congealed salad creations." She was a regular patron at the local Cracker Barrel and Wendy's restaurants, and it could be said that the staff knew her order before she even placed it. Each Friday, Ruby would grab a couple of sausage biscuits from McDonald's, one for herself and one for her beautician. As soon as breakfast was acquired, she kept her early morning hair appointment with her close friend Dianne.

Spending holidays surrounded by those who loved her most brought great joy to Ruby's heart. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will be deeply missed by all of those whose lives were touched by her gracious spirit. Ruby took great pride in all the many accomplishments her friends and relatives achieved. Sharing photos of her family, especially her great-grandchildren, was a beautiful manifestation of her love.

Ruby was preceded in death by parents, Alva Cage and Mary Shearon; sisters, Billie Shepherd, Hildra Robinson, and Ann Hawkins; husband Norris "Gabby" Jarrell; and daughter Faye Brown.

She is survived by son, Gregory Jarrell of Hendersonville; daughter, Jennifer Beazley of Gallatin; five grandchildren, Victor (Danielle) Esposito of Washington, D.C., Gary (Kelly) Austin of Mt Juliet, Brandon (Faith) Austin of Goodlettsville, Nicole Boner of Frederick, MD, and Justin Bubba (Melissa) Jarrell of North Carolina; and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hendersonville Funeral Home for visitation Tuesday, April 5th, from 4 - 8 p.m. and Wednesday, April 6th, from 12 - 1 p.m. Funeral service will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Gary Ferrell will be officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Victor Esposito, Gary Austin, Brandon Austin, Justin Jarrell, Zachery Austin, Alex Perkins, and Vincent Esposito. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
