In Loving Memory of Rosemary Veronica Haas
December 23, 1956 – February 26, 2025
Rosemary “Rose” Haas lived a life full of adventure, love and dedication to both her family and country. She passed away on February 26, 2025, at Skyline Hospital in Nashville, TN, at the age of 68.
Born December 23, 1956, in Bayonne, NJ, to Robert Patrick Murphy and Mary Louise Barulli, Rose embraced every challenge and opportunity that came her way. After earning her degree from Towson State College in 1979, Rose was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps and went on to serve her country with pride. Her service took her to Redstone Arsenal, AL; Camp Casey, South Korea, Fort Ord, CA and to the United States Military Academy, NY. She retired from the Army in 1992 as a Major, but never stopped serving others. In 1994, she followed her passion for education and became an elementary teacher, a role she continued until 2015, touching the lives of countless students.
Rose had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for learning. She earned her master’s degree in Educational Psychology from Cal State Hayward in 1998 and continued to explore the world through travel, books and music. She loved Paris and spoke French beautifully. She found joy in the simple pleasures – being outdoors, sharing laughter with family and friends, and savoring a good glass of wine. Rose loved horseback riding and she rode every chance she got and took great pleasure in teaching others to ride.
Above all, Rose cherished her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Keith Haas; her three sons, Joshua, Zachary and Isaac Haas; and her sisters, Suzanne Nayden (Jerry) and Jane Thomas (Kevin). She was a beloved aunt to Corey Nayden and Kristina Lickteig (Aaron) and a proud great-aunt to little Harlow Lickteig.
Rose’s funeral will be held on Saturday, March 15th at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, Hendersonville, TN in the Chapel. Visitation begins at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am.
