Ronald F. Pounders- age 76 went to be with the Lord on March 26, 2017. Ronald was raised in Red Rock, AL on a dairy farm. In his youth, he served as the 4-H Club President for the state of Alabama. He was a graduate of David Lipscomb University. While attending college he met his sweet heart, Sandra who became his wife of 34 years. He majored in music and was an accomplished pianist. Ronald was a man of deep faith and a devoted member of Hendersonville Church of Christ for 50 years. During that time he served as an Elder for 30 years and spent countless hours volunteering at the church day school and kindergarten. Ronald enjoyed educating children and was a Principal for Metro Schools for 38 years.
Throughout his life he had many accomplishments and hobbies. He was a world traveler visiting 35 countries. He also served as a missionary in Cuba on 3 different occasions. Those mission trips touched his heart and he has always been a great supporter of the Cuba Missions through his church. Ronald enjoyed stained glass, wood working, radio controlled airplanes, camping and boating. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra A. Pounders and parents, Odes and Frances Pounders. He is survived by his son, Alan F. Pounders (Tami); grandchildren, Bailey Pounders and Jordyn Pounders.
A life celebration service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2:30 at Hendersonville Church of Christ with Brother Keith Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home and on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 12:00pm-2:30pm at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hendersonville Church of Christ Cuba Missions Fund.
