Bob Howell was born on Halloween 1938 in St. Louis, MO. He passed away on July 6, 2021 from extenuating health complications.
Bob was a longtime resident of Hendersonville, TN where he was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and Bluegrass Country Club.
He relished his friends and community, always eager to lend a hand or share a drink. COVID posed particular challenges but Bob and friends had the ‘Turnaround Tavern’ to help them cope and connect. Bob was generous with his support of local charities and projects like the food pantry at Our Lady of the Lake and Mur-ci Homes.
He started his career with General Electric as a salesman in the small appliance division which took him from St. Louis to New Jersey before landing in middle Tennessee. It was not long before he branched out to start his own successful manufacturers’ sales and distribution business – Howell, Taylor, Murphy & Associates.
Bob loved sports and outdoors. He split much of his later years between New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Hendersonville enjoying golf and fishing. Every Sunday in the fall you could find Bob at a Titans game or watching with friends and family. But his greatest treasures were his ten grandchildren – Katy, Margaret, Tricia, Natalie, Jenny, Jack, Rachel, Emily, Sarah, and Lilly.
He is survived by his sister Kathy (Charlie) Bratkowski and four children Angie (Thompson) Brown, Sharon Howell Trew, Susan (Russ) Miller, and Mark (Sarah) Howell, all of Nashville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pauline Laster Howell and Harry S. Howell and his brothers Donald Earle Howell and Daniel Roger Howell all of St. Louis, MO.
Services will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Monday, July 19. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:30 AM. Interment will be held privately for family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Our Lady of the Lake Food Pantry, Mur-ci Homes or the charity of your choice.
