Robert "Bob" Earl Rohde of Hendersonville, Tennessee (formerly of Grants Pass, OR and Ypsilanti, MI), passed away March 8, 2020 at the age of 96. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Matilda Rohde; three baby daughters and only son Robert R. Rohde; and four brothers, Rudolph, Reuben, Ernest, and Alvin.
Bob is survived by his wife of 71 years, Avalene R. (Brock) Rohde; daughter, Sherylene Rohde (Phillip Lemmonds); five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother, Lawrence "Larry" Rohde (Caroline); nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The eldest of six boys born to George and Matilda Rohde in Dexter, Michigan, he overcame the challenges of polio and went on to become a machinist for King Seely in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Here he met his wife and raised two children in the nearby city of Ypsilanti. Upon retiring from Chrysler Corporation in 1975, he and his wife moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, where he enjoyed working in the yard, maintaining his vehicles and mechanical "toys", collecting, and finding solutions for any challenge that presented itself. His love of cars and antiques can be found throughout his family. Bob was a gentle and loving man who never met a stranger. Though his physical presence will be missed immensely, he will always be with us- he's forever in our hearts.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
