Richie Walker DeLoach joined the Lord's angels on November 17, 2016. She was 82 years old.
Richie was born of Richard and Lona (nee Blount) Walker on July 2, 1934, in Thomaston, Georgia.
Above all, Richie was a loving, strong, and devoted Mother of 8 children. She also spent 21 years as an USAF officer's wife, volunteering at military base hospitals as a nursing assistant. She continued nursing in civilian life in local hospitals in Georgia and Tennessee. She was adored by her patients and loved caring for them.
Richie had several interests including bowling, cooking, reading, and softball, which she also coached. She also enjoyed searching literature in order to find new natural cures and recipes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and late husband, Major Edward T. DeLoach. She is survived by two sisters, Sue Smith (Dickson,TN) and Betty Turner (Atlanta, GA); eight children, including Rilaine and Lincoln Johnson (West Des Moines,IA), Dr. Patricia Salter (LaGrange, GA), Derrell and Steve DeLoach (Hendersonville, TN), Chris and Mary DeLoach (Old Hickory, TN), Cindy Gosse (Nashua, NH), Rev. James and Carol DeLoach (Kearney, NE), and Ken and Misty DeLoach (Lebanon, TN), sixteen grandchildren, eleven great- grandchildren, and awaiting the arrival of two additional great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. and a Celebration of Richie's Life will follow visitation at 4:30 p.m. All will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 610 W. Old Hickory Blvd., Madison, TN 37115.
