Richard “Rick” Paul Thomas

Richard “Rick” Paul Thomas, age 80, of Hendersonville, passed away on February 15, 2025. Rick was born on October 13, 1944, to the late John Thomas and Georgia Gallup of Bismarck, North Dakota.  

Rick attended St. Mary’s Central High School.  

He found joy in the great outdoors, whether he was casting a line while fishing, perfecting his swing on the golf course, or setting up camp under the stars. A true "duck man," he dedicated himself to collecting donations for veterans, driven by a deep passion for those who served our country. He also had a passion for dancing, shooting, and traveling, always seeking out new adventures. But above all, he cherished his time with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever. 

Rick was a part of AVVA, Vietnam Vets of America Post 240, and American Legion 290.  

Rick was in the United States Navy as a Quarter Master from September 1963 until October 1974.  

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his brothers, John Thomas and Jim Thomas.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Rebecca Thomas; children, Angelica Paolillo (Alphonse), Bryan Thomas (Jeanne), Tim Thomas, and Brandy Olden; grandchildren, Zachary Lozano, Christian Lozano (Cassandra), Mia Lozano, Gabriel Lozano, Sandra Thomas, Schelley Thomas, Paige Thomas, Hailee Thomas, and Noah Thomas; great grandchildren, Lillian Lozano, Rosa Lozano; and siblings, David Thomas and Georgia Bauslagh. 

Visitation for Rick will be held on Sunday, February 23 from 3 to 6 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 East Main Street, Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075) and on Monday, February 24 from 12 to 1 pm. A funeral service for Rick will be held Monday, February 24 at 1 pm at the same location. The burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. 

Pallbearers will be Mike DiPalermo, Zachary Lozano, Christian Lozano, Alphonse Paolillo, Sal Lozano, Gabe Lozano, Austin Crane, Bryan Thomas, and Rick Trapani.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Rebecca Thomas for funeral expenses.
