Retha K. Mizer Freeman, age 85, passed away September 25, 2022. Retha was born on April 21, 1937 in Alma, Michigan to George and Dorothy Mizer.
Retha spent her life serving others. She was a member of the Connell United Methodist Church. She was an avid cook, she used that skill to help with Meals on Wheels for many years. Her love for others was always easy to see by the way she treated people. Her most recent act of serving others was sending cards to church members for their birthday or when they were sick. She wanted everyone to know to be kind to each other and love one another. She will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.
Retha is preceded in death by her parents George and Dorothy; brothers Ronald Mizer and James Mizer; and sister Sharon Hagen.
She is survived by her husband Tom Freeman; sons John (Nancy) Freeman of Springfield, TN and Robert (Eve) Freeman of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter Nancy (Mike) Mundy of Great Falls, Montana; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Rex Mizer of Georgia and Tom (Karen) Mizer of Michigan; 2 sisters Sue (Dave) Bacon of Michigan and Kim Pratt of Michigan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 2pm-3pm at Connell United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville. A Memorial Service will begin at 3pm with Rita Hayes officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Habitat for Humanity.
