Raymond Wilburn Wickard Jr., age 85, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Raymond was born August 23, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Preceding him in death are his parents, Raymond Wilburn Wickard Sr. and Cleo Wickard, his late wife Shirley Wickard and his sister, Linda Cox (Adair).
He is survived by his wife, Patsy R. Wickard, daughter, Ramona Ann Wickard, step-son, Kevin Suggs (Karen), step-grandchildren, David Suggs (Elizabeth), Megan Hopkins (Brad); step-great-grandchildren, Crew Hopkins, Elliston Hopkins, Gray Suggs, and Blake Suggs.
Other extended family members dear to his heart are chosen son Sammie Halsell (Debbie), and numerous cousins, friends, and family.
Raymond was an avid golfer and had a love for sports. He won many accolades as a young athlete including the Pelican State Southern US Tennis Junior Olympics Championship, Ping Pong Championship, Fair Park Tennis Championship, and he was part of the 300 Bowling League. He graduated from Fair Park High School where he was a part of the Fair Park Honor Society and won the state bowling championship.
He met Patsy and they married on November 12, 1994. They are members of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Raymond and Patsy shared a love for family, cars, and travel. Raymond and his daughter, Ramona enjoyed the game of golf.
He was a business leader owning Northwest Fertilizer Company before moving to Tennessee. He had a love for his customers and served his clients through ProSource Solutions up until his passing.
The Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday July 16, 2024, at Hendersonville Memorial Gardens with visitation starting at 12:00 pm and the service will be held at 2:00 pm. Serving as pallbearers will be his golf foursome and two of his superintendents: Luther McDaniel, Jimmy Jenkins, Matt Ricker, Jonathan Hayes, Joe Kennedy, Jeff Madsen.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to all the medical doctors, nurses, caregivers, hospice representatives, and staff for their unwavering professionalism, kindness and love while treating and caring for Raymond in his times of need. A special thanks goes to Dr. Gary Yawn and Dr. John Millspaugh.
