Rayburn Eugene Selvage was born in Scottsboro, Alabama on April 23, 1943 and passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020. He battled cancer for over 10 years, but Covid-19 took his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Laura Selvage; his brother, Buddy Selvage, and his grandson, Brandon Binkley. Rayburn is survived by his wife of 40 years, Doris; his daughters, Cindy (Kenny) King, Angie (Tim) Stalsworth, Gina (Bryan) Hull; his sisters, Faye (Ray) Hardin, Joan (James) Cornelison, Nellie Coiner; grandchildren, Angel Zimmerman, Keri Morris, Brennan King, and Braden Stalsworth; his step-grandchildren, Tyler Hull and Megan Hull; and three great-grandchildren.
Rayburn graduated from the University of Alabama at Florence in 1966 with a double major of Mathematics and Physics. He retired from the State of Tennessee with 27 years of service. He was a member of the Hendersonville Church of God as the Clerk/Treasurer for 44 years and over the years served in many different capacities. He was an avid Alabama Football fan and any time you saw him, he was dressed in Alabama attire.
Rayburn loved God, his family, his church family, and Alabama Football. "Roll Tide!"
A celebration of life service for Rayburn will be held at Hendersonville Church of God, 724 East Main Street in Hendersonville on Saturday, October 31st at 1:00 PM, presided by Pastor Eric Jackson. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Friday, October 30th from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
