R. Ray Coker, age 72, of Hendersonville, Tennessee was born on September 4, 1945 in Nashville and joined the Lord on September 25, 2017. Ray enlisted in the Air Force following his graduation from Maplewood High School, serving from 1963 until 1967. In 1973, he founded an independent insurance agency and remained president of Coker, Wolfe & Associates, Inc. until his death. Ray is survived by his best friend and wife of 49 years, Jessie M. Coker, sons and daughters-in-law Richard Coker and Katie K. Coker, Jeff Coker and Katie L. Coker, daughter Melissa Coker, mother Ann Gregory, grandchildren Reagan, Brylee and Jacob and his faithful assistant of 34 years, Wendy Simpson. Visitation for is set for Friday, September 29 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Another visitation will be held on Saturday morning, September 30, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville before the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are extended family members Gartman Baldwin, Steve Bull, Bobby Jackson, James Ray Ladd and Ken Moore, friends Ray Bobel and Luke Tinsley (representing his grandfather, Regis Tinsley) and business partner Rick Wolfe.
