Ray Claiborne, 88, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Zora Claiborne, first wife, Dorothy Claiborne and siblings: Charlie Lushen, Leslie Ernest, Domie Marvin, Duel, Earl, Estelle and Harvey Claiborne Jr. Survived by his beloved wife Joyce of 39 years, children: Mike Claiborne (Sandra), Jeff Claiborne (Marie), Stephanie Finch (Tim), Cindy Bean (David) and Leslie Hodges (John), brothers: Jim Claiborne (Sue) and Clessie Claiborne (Nina), grandchildren: Matthew Claiborne (Candice), Sarah Harrell (Jamey), Hannah Claiborne, Rebekah Huddleston (Corey), Gabriel Claiborne (Kayla), Casey Dycus (Grady), Courtney Smith (Trevis), Mandy Locke (Jason), Bryan Bean (Amy), Wade Hodges and Wes Hodges. Ray is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren along with many extended family and friends.

Ray was born February 24, 1929 in Allen County, KY. He served proudly in the United States Army and was a member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville for 55 years, serving as a Deacon. For 29 years, Ray owned Ray Claiborne Accounting & Tax Service before passing the business to his daughter Cindy. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and Kentucky basketball, which his family described as a passion. Family was very important to Ray. He was a loving and humble family man who raised two families. Ray was a man of great faith and an avid Bible reader. He will be dearly missed by his family and by all who knew him.

Ray's family would like to thank the operators of Long Hollow Terrace, Joe & Fannie for their love and support of Ray and his family.

A Life Celebration service for Ray will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home at 1:00pm on Monday, November 27th, officiated by Pastor Richard Gaia. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Interment with Military Honors will follow the service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Field of Honor.
