Hello Lord

It's me, Phyllis Wright, the heart lady

I am at the ripe old age of 93.

Thank you for such a long and healthy life

I was once a child, then a young woman

I became a loving mother and devoted wife.

You blessed me with a beautiful family,

Two smiling boys and a bright eyed girl

Their little arms wrapped around my neck

Were more precious than a priceless pearl

You gave me grandchildren and great-grandchildren too.

They are the chocolate chips in my life. Who knew?

A special added bonus for the long-lived few

Thank you, Lord! Thank you!

Several states I have called home

How fortunate for me

I enjoyed good times in

New York, Florida and Tennessee

Brooklyn was my home base

Long Island not in my plan

But I fell in love with Fred

In 1946 I married my man.

It was in Hicksville that it all began.

Off it was to Hunter

Many summers spent there.

Rented cabins to many travelers and

Charged them a meager fare

My children and I enjoyed the country air.

Went swimming in the Schoharie creek

Basked in the summer sun

We had no cell phone, internet or TV

But we still had lots of fun.

Toasted marshmallows by the campfire glow

Played a game or two of Po-Ke-No

Or to the movies we would go.

Homemade pizza in the pans

Prepared by Nan and Joe's magic hands

Oh, what a special treat!

Call the family to take a seat

The pizza's hot

Come on, let's eat!

Retired years upon us

Cold and snow to our dislike

Two snowbirds from NY

Travel on Florida's Turnpike.

Our destination is Hudson

On the Sunshine State's west coast

To our newly purchased villa

The home I love the most.

On my 80th birthday

I was with my grandson Drew

He took me to get my birthday present

A red heart tattoo!

My daughter nearly fainted

In astonishment for what I had done

My 14 year old granddaughter wanted a blue one!

In my twilight years I arrived at Park Place.

When you're in your nineties you need a slower pace

Enjoyed a Mother's Day Tea

With all my "daughters" and me

Posed for a picture on Elvis' knee

Saw a classic car show for free

Went with the ladies on a shopping spree

I think about all the good friends I have made along the way

Special to me they all are today.

I have traveled to many places

So much to do and see

The rainbow in Kentucky

Is my dearest memory

I saw Ron's smiling face gazing down upon me.

Thank you, Lord, for Frank Sinatra.

My favorite singer as you well know

To all his concerts I would surely go.

I could sing and dance to his music all night

Until I saw the morning light

And as "Ole Blue Eyes" might have said

When he was on his final bed

That's Life! I did it My Way!

And Lord I sure enjoyed life's ride

With you beside me as my guide.
