Phyllis Lorraine Rognstad, age 87, of Hendersonville, TN passed away peacefully on March 2, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 5, 1931, in Rapid River, MI, to the late Richard and Aurora Olson and grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, her son Sigurd, and one sister, Pauline Snoad.
Phyllis will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. After graduating from Chicago's Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1953, she worked as an RN until her retirement in 1993 from Sumner County Hospital. Phyllis opened her heart and home to friends and family and was a caregiver to all. She was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church for many years. An avid bridge player, she joined many bridge clubs with her husband, Bruce. She delighted in the company of her family and the sights and sounds of nature, particularly a lake view.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Lorraine Rognstad, Jill (Keith) Davenport, Glen (Sara) Rognstad, Gail (Matt) Mendians, Vicki Boaz, and daughter-in-law Tracy Rognstad; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A life celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Hendersonville, or Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
