Phyllis Eileen Reaver, age 85, of Hendersonville passed peacefully to be with her Lord on May 16, 2017. She was born on May 29, 1931, to William and Kathryn Kellermeyer of Columbus, OH.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Donald V. Reaver; brother William Kellermeyer, sister Marie Burns, son Curt Reaver and parents. She is survived by her children Cindy Garrison (Benton), Becky Carter, and Leslie Heinrich (Craig), grandchildren Joshua Carter, and Lauren Heinrich of Hendersonville; Maleya Garrison and Ben Garrison of Knoxville, TN, Matthew Heinrich of Princeton, NJ.
Phyllis graduated from Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, OH with her Registered Nurse Degree in 1952.
Phyllis served her community in many ways. For more than a decade she was the volunteer manager of the Hendersonville Thrift Store (currently known as the Hendersonville Samaritan Center). She also co-founded the Hendersonville Girl's Softball League in 1970 with Valerie Ledbetter and was named to the Hendersonville Parks Department Wall of Fame. Phyllis served as secretary for Hendersonville Saddle Club. She joined St. Timothy Lutheran Church in 1968 and was very active in choir, Vacation Bible School, bridge groups and church softball teams. She and Don hosted church picnics, bonfires and even Christmas in July at their barn.
Phyllis adored her five grandchildren and rarely missed any of their school, family, or sporting events. She was always there to watch over them and do whatever was needed.
Phyllis and Don lived an amazing life together filled with family and the best of friends in their neighborhood, bridge groups, Thrift Store, bowling leagues, softball teams, Saddle Club, American Airlines family and Church family.
A Memorial Service will be held September 23rd at 2:00 pm at St. Timothy Lutheran Church 650 East Main St, Hendersonville, TN. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to the service. A reception with light refreshments will immediately follow in Founders Hall.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorials in Phyllis's name to St. Timothy Lutheran Church or donations to NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) of Sumner County, P.O. Box 944, Hendersonville, TN 37077.
