Mrs. Peggy Strickland Brown age 90, of Gallatin, TN, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.
Mrs. Brown was born in Nashville, TN, on November 8, 1928, the daughter of the late Samuel and Beatrice (Smith) Strickland. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William Robert "Bill" Brown and a daughter, Pamela Skelton.
Mrs. Brown was a life-long resident of Nashville and surrounding areas. She attended Dan Mills Elementary School and Isaac Litton High School, later serving as officers of the PTAs when her children attended. She and her family were members of Inglewood Baptist Church. She was recognized for her many years of service to the "Pink Ladies" Volunteers at Nashville Memorial Hospital. She was a model for Cain-Sloan Department Store, appearing in the tea room, print advertisements, and charity fashion shows. Forty-five years ago, when she and Bill moved to their home on Old Hickory Lake, they became active members of Rehoboth Methodist Church. They maintained a home in Delray Beach, FL, and enjoyed traveling all over the world.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane (Jon) Chellgren; son-in-law, Mike Skelton; grandchildren, David (Kathryn) Chellgren, Brian (Veronique) Chellgren, Valerie (Matt Ryan) Skelton, and Matthew Skelton; and seven great-grandchildren, Abigail Chellgren, Eric Chellgren, John Chellgren, Daniel Chellgren, Jacob Ryan, Lauren Chellgren, and Eleanor Ryan.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., Hendersonville Funeral Home.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at Hendersonville Funeral Home.
