Mrs. Mary Patricia (Pat) Phillips Edwards Uzzell, 88, of Hendersonville, TN, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, November 11, 2017. Patty, as she was known by her grandchildren, was born July 29, 1929 in Glendale, California to the late Herman Lacy and Mary Anderson Phillips. She grew up in Durham, North Carolina, where she resided with her mother, Mary Phillips Edwards and her step-father, Albert Thomas Edwards. Patricia attended Duke University her Freshman Year of college and Western Carolina University, her sophomore year, where she met her love, James Andrews (Jim) Uzzell. She earned her Bachelor's Degree (With Honors) in administration from Golden Gate University of San Francisco at Shaw Air-force Base in Sumter, S.C. in 1975.

Pat and Jim lived in Black Mountain, NC. She also lived in Sumter, Beaufort, Columbia and Pickens, South Carolina. Pat and Jim retired in 1992 and moved to Hendersonville, TN. where they loved living next door to family, visiting with the friends they made here, and most of all their church Hendersonville First Baptist Church. Family was the most important thing in Patty's life along with her relationship with Jesus. Pat and Jim loved to travel with their most memorable trip being their mission trip to Eastern Europe and more specifically to Romania.

Pat is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jim Uzzell; daughter, Kimberley Uzzell Howard (Scott); son, Thomas Carter Uzzell (Christina); grandson, Fletcher Beaumont Howard (Kelly); granddaughter, Patricia Peyton Howard Ankers (Adam); grandson, Carter William Uzzell; granddaughter, Abigail Lacy Uzzell; great-grandson, Fletcher Barrett Howard; great-grandson, Graham Elliott Howard; and great-granddaughter, Blythe Elizabeth Howard. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Andrews Uzzell and a son, James Andrews Uzzell, Jr.

A Celebration of Life/Memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Hendersonville First Baptist Church Chapel with Brother Bruce Chesser officiating. Visitation will be held in the Chapel from 9:00 - 10:00 AM before the service. She will be laid to rest in the Spring in the Uzzell family plot in Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery, Black Mountain, N.C.
