Age 97 of Hendersonville went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2015.
Oveta was a God-fearing woman of faith. She was a long-time member of the Hendersonville Missionary Baptist Church, and in recent years, a member of Indian Hills Baptist Church. While raising her children she and her husband worked in the textile industry. Honest-hard-work was something she valued and taught her children by example all of her life. She even made caring for her home a full-time job.
When remembering her one might say that she kept an immaculate home and some might even say she "cleaned the clean." She enjoyed canning, tending her garden to produce beautiful flowers, mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges, and cooking. Though she never measured the ingredients she could cook up some delicious dishes. She loved having her family around for the holidays.
She was a very particular woman and delighted in order. Her habits of cleanliness and independence followed her into the nursing home; she would routinely make her own bed, clean her bathroom, and take care of her own personal grooming. She had to have things done to her standards. Her hair also had to be "just so."
Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, her husband of sixty plus years, William R. Wright, son, L.D. Wright, and grandson David W. Hodgin.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris J. Hodgin and Grace Y. Henderson (James); son, William Larry Wright (Dorica); daughter-in-law, Paula Wright; sisters, Beatrice Beheler and Nellie Hensley; and many grand and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Sumner County Food Bank, 1021 Woods Ferry Rd. Gallatin, TN 37066 (615-452-3890).
