MORAN, Nancy Wray-age 77 went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2012 after a valiant battle following heart surgery and a stroke. Nancy was born in Russellville, KY on June 26, 1934. Her family moved to Nashville in 1934. She played basketball at East High School where she graduated in 1952. She loved all kinds of sports and was active in water skiing early in her life and had been an avid golfer. She began working for Monument Records in Hendersonville in early 1960's and later worked for Columbia Records in Nashville, TN. She left Columbia Records after her and her husband opened Dicky's Hickory Pit Restaurant in Hendersonville in 1973. Nancy worked there until her health began declining. She was loved by all the patrons who gathered regularly at "the pit" to eat, greet, unwind, and talk sports. She was a friend to all who will be missed by her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by Elwood and Nell Pedigo Wray; parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Joseph Richard Moran, Sr.; sisters, Anne Wray and Adeline Howle. She is survived by husband of 60 years, Joseph "Dicky" Richard Moran, Jr.; son, Joseph "Dicky" Moran, III; daughters, Julie Valentine Greg and Toni Knobs Brian; grandchildren, Josh Gebhardt, Leslie Pigg Russell, Christina G'Francisco, Candice Loyd, J.R. Moran, IV Shelley, and A.J. Moran; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, John Wray Judy; sister, Helen Sprague; sister-in-law, Mercedes Jacobs Jake; 12 nieces and nephews; and special family members, Gina, Kayla, Cheyenne, and Cody Fitzgerald. A Life Celebration service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Boots Scott, Jay Thomas, Fred Foster, David McKenzie, Eddie Walker, Doug Harris and Corinne Smith. Visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday from 4-8p.m. at Hendersonville Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to HighPoint Hospice.
