Helen Marie (Wilhite) Michels, age 96 of Goodlettsville and formally of Danville, Illinois passed away on January 15, 2015.
Mrs. Michels was the monarch of her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend to all. Even though she was a strict mother she loved her grandchildren and in her eyes they could never do wrong. She was a woman of faith who loved the Lord. Helen was a member of the Heart Sisters Sunday School Class and was the official "Whistle Blower" for class to begin. She will be remembered as a prayer warrior and she never missed a Sunday or Wednesday service at church. With a humble and giving heart she would organize and deliver family bereavement dinners as well as buy anyone a teddy bear that was sick. Later in life when others would give her teddy bears she began to collect them because they were so dear to her heart.
As an LPN for her entire career, she had many achievements; however one of her most proud moments was starting the Respiratory Department in the Lakeview Memorial Hospital in Danville, Illinois. During her time at Vanderbilt Medical Center while she was recovering no matter what was going on every time she heard LifeFlight she would stop and say a prayer for whom ever was on that flight. Even at the very end of her life her caring and giving heart never stopped for others.
Mrs. Michels is preceded in death by her husband's Eugene Wilhite and Chet Michels, son, Bill Wilhite; granddaughter, Terri Powell; stepson, Steve Michels and stepdaughter, Susan Michels. She is survived by her daughters, Martha (Phillip) Mikel and Diana Pridgen; grandchildren, Scott Wilhite, Cathy Rivera, Steve Wilhite, Susan McCall, Cheri Holland, Julie Wynn, and Cindy Peevler; 13 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Step Great-Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great Grandchildren and beloved dog "Sunny."
A Life Celebration will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home then again on Monday from 10 until the time of service at First Baptist of Hendersonville.
