After a courageous battle with cancer, Mrs. Mildred (Red) McIntosh, née Butts, originally of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the age of 54.
Mildred was born to parents William Butts and California Brown on August 22, 1963 in Baltimore. She grew up as the sixth of seven children. She attended Walbrook High School. During her career she was a driven professional working in the law field and as a paralegal and manager beginning at the age of 17. In July 2014, she married the love of her life, Chris McIntosh.
In 1980, Mildred gave birth to her only child Aliya. As a mother and grandmother she was in her prime, enthusiastically planning family events to ensure love, togetherness and memories for her family, daughter and her grandchildren for years to come. Her incredible shoe collection was second to none and she was always the best dressed woman in the room.
When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, she remained dedicated in her work and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
She is survived by her husband Chris McIntosh, daughter, Aliya Page her half brother, Horace Thompson (Pat), Brother Milton Butts, her sisters, Willie Deloris Boone (Ronald) and Barzella Butts, Five grandchildren; Caleb SintClair, Kayla Morgan, Nahla Morgan, Darren Parham and Miles Parham and two step-grandchildren, Mason and Miles McIntosh.
She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Carlton Brock (Shonda), Vance McIntosh, Eric McIntosh (Monique), Damond Brock, and sisters-in-law, Iona Love (James), and Tracie Brown.
She is preceded in death by her mother, California Brown, her half brother Andrew Thompson, half sister, Fay Allen Thompson, and brother Otis Lee Butts.
A celebration of life will be held at St, James Episcopal Church, 11524 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA at 11AM.
Mildred requested to be cremated. The cremation will take place in her current home city of Hendersonville, TN.
