Michael Douchette of Gallatin, Tn passed away Friday, December 4, 2020. Mike was born May 7, 1955 in Portsmouth, Va, son of the late Tex and Betty Douchette. He was a faithful and loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a world class musician and incredible multi-instrumentalist. His first love was harmonica, but in his early years he quickly mastered the pedal steel, dobro, rhythm guitar, and piano. In his career, he shared the stage with legends such as Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Charlie McCoy, Vern Gosdin, and Ronnie McDowell. In over 50 years as a professional studio musician, he has been featured on more recordings than could ever be listed here. One of his greatest experiences as a performer came when he had the opportunity to play in the house band for the 2014 Musician's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. There, he backed up the likes of Peter Frampton, Buddy Guy, Will Lee, and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. It was a thrill for Mike when Billy decided to spontaneously give him multiple solos that night! Michael was well known and always ran into a friendly face everywhere he went! Across the industry, his incredible creativity, talent, and humor are remembered and appreciated by hundreds of his peers.
On November 27, 1995, Michael was united in marriage to his loving and faithful wife of 25 years, Lisa (Rice) Douchette, who survives. He is also survived by his 7 children, Erica (Josh) Miller, Daniel (Sally) Douchette, Adam (Amanda) Franklin, Benjamin (Grace) Douchette, Leah (Andrew) Taylor, Michael (Desiree) Douchette, and Samantha (Anthony) Dukes; 14 grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth (John) Glynn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Michael and Lisa were friends in high school, and though their lives led them down different roads at first, they were brought back together by God, in a chance reunion years later. The love between them grew quickly and never faded. Lisa was Michael's greatest love, and the apple of his eye. Together, they blended their lives, and created what would become a very large family! As a father and grandfather, Michael was kind, sincere, and endlessly giving of his time. From chauffeuring all of his kids around town for years, to always lending an ear and offering advice, he made each and every one of his children and grandchildren feel special. Michael was a man of deep faith, who loved God and was devoted to his church. He helped share God's love with many people every Sunday by playing in the church band. Michael touched so many lives over the years, and his legacy will live on forever. He will be missed by all who knew him.
