Emma Delfo, 88 of Hendersonville, passed away on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019. Preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Delfo, parents, Grover Mankin Sr. and Evelyn McGriff, son, Keith Allen, brother, Bud Mankin and sister, Lois Mankin. Survived by her children, James M. Allen (Sheila), Melodie Cootes, Scott Allen (Alyce), Tray Allen (Michelle), brothers, Doug Mankin (Maria), John Mankin (Ellie) and sister, Dot Rowland (Roy). Emma is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren along with many extended family and friends.
Emma was born on October 14, 1930 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She graduated in 1952 from St. Thomas School of Nursing. Emma dedicated her life to nursing and worked as Nursing Supervisor at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Donelson Hospital and Smyrna Hospital. She also worked in the ICU at Rutherford County Hospital. Emma moved to Texas in the early 1990's where she worked in the ICU at DeTar Hospital in Victoria, Texas. Emma was also caregiver to her son Keith, while he battled Autism. Emma loved caring for her patients, animals and taking care of her family. She will be dearly missed by her family and by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service for Emma will be held at Fair Haven Baptist Church, 2726 Highway 231 N.in Shelbyville, TN, 37160, on Sunday, March 31st, 2019 at 1:00PM, officiated by Pastor Tod Tanner.
