May 30, 1987 — March 4, 2021

Born in Murray, Kentucky on May 30, 1987 Departed on March 4, 2021 and resided in Gallatin, Tennessee

Matthew Lyn Barnes was born into this life on May 30, 1987 and exited this life on March 4, 2021. The past year of Matthew's life was spent fighting the relentless fight against Glioblastoma. He was always above and beyond willing to do anything for his health throughout this process and was the most brave, extraordinary human to watch. Matthew wanted, from day one, to impact anyone else who suffers from this horrible disease and to raise awareness from his struggle. He was selfless, loving, caring, and concerned about others above himself always. Matthew burned his light as fast and hard as any person could. He lived his dream everyday growing his own companies, supporting his family, and growing his employees. In his short time, he impacted the world and so many people. Matthew leaves a gap in his absence but he contributed more than anyone could imagine.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Kayla (Jackson) Barnes. His mother, Connie (Barnes) Maynord and step-father, Chris. His father, Gary Barnes and step-mother, Sandy. His brother, Dominic (Verderese) Barnes and spouse, Corey Young. His wonderful, loving puppies, Max and Precious, who barked every time daddy came home. He is preceded in death by multiple grandparents, aunts, and uncles. He is also survived and loved by so many wonderful, caring friends that meant the world to him.

Matthew's dream was to donate and care for those who went above and beyond in this life. In lieu of flowers, Matthew would like donations made in his name to both the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, TN and the Alive Hospice Facility in Nashville, TN. These donations will help progress forward the ultimate goal Matthew always had: caring for others. DONATE TO ELEPHANT SANCTUARY DONATE TO ALIVE HOSPICE

At this time, the family would like to extend a tremendous "Thank You" for all the love, care, and support given to us by Vanderbilt Medical Center, Ingram Cancer Center, and the Alive Hospice facility. We will be forever grateful.

A private life celebration will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021.
