Mrs. Mary Louise (Hembree) Miller, age 90, of Nashville, TN, passed away April 22, 2022, while a resident of Trevecca Center for Rehabilitation and Healing for the past two and a half years. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Edward) Darling of Auburn, NY, and son, John (Melinda) Miller of Mount Juliet, TN, as well as three grandchildren, Wendy Yoder (Chad) of Massillon, OH, Ryan Darling of Nashville, TN, Jackson Miller of Mount Juliet, TN and one great-grandchild, Claire Yoder of Massillon, OH. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Maynard G. Miller, two daughters, Karen Ann and Carol Sue Miller, her brother Robert F. Hembree, her father Fred O. Hembree, and her mother, Addie Irene Knight Hembree.
Mrs. Miller was born on April 4, 1932, in Portales, NM. Her family moved several times while she was a child and finally settled in Bethany, OK. She was attending Peniel College (now Southern Nazarene University) studying music (voice) when she met Maynard. Since he was attending Pasadena Nazarene College in CA (now Point Loma Nazarene University), a long-distance relationship developed, and they were married on August 7, 1952. She ministered alongside her husband for over 50 years at several Nazarene churches throughout Oklahoma, Missouri, and Tennessee. With her background in music, she taught many children and adults to play the piano over the years. She also made an impact on many children at their ministry locations as she coordinated children’s choirs and children’s Bible quizzing and taught many Sunday School classes over the years.
Upon the death of her husband in 2008, Mrs. Miller moved to Nampa, ID, to live with her son and family, and then in 2010, she moved back “home” with them to the Nashville area. She has spent the last 14 years walking humbly with her Lord and Savior as she did all her life. Louise was an encourager, generous, kind-hearted, and selfless individual. She loved to spend time with her family laughing and sharing life. She could be mischievous with a bit of twinkle in her eye, but her smile always lit up the room. She will be missed but is now completely healed as she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus.
On Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 12-2 p.m., friends and family are welcome to attend a time of visitation followed by a service to celebrate Mrs. Miller’s life and legacy at the Hendersonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Discipleship Center of Upstate New York, Inc. (Auburn, NY) www.discipleshipcenter.org or CrossBRIDGE, Inc. (Nashville, TN) www.crossbridgeinc.org - two ministries she supported wholeheartedly.
