Mary Elizabeth Jeffers, age 71, of Hendersonville, TN passed on to the Lord Jesus on Thursday, April 21, 2016 after an extended battle with illness.
On March 6, 1945 Mary was born in Smyrna, TN. She spent her childhood in Pittsburgh, PA, until her teenage years, when her family relocated to Nashville, TN. There she graduated from East High School in 1962. For a brief time, she lived in Memphis, TN, where she experienced the height of the civil rights movement and the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Mary will be remembered as a kind, giving, caring, merciful, gracious, and faithful woman. She was a mother, grandmother, friend, and intercessor. As a sister, she received the beloved nickname "Cissy." Mary's sister Edna recalls how "they'd play school and Mary was a fantastic teacher." Family was of utmost importance to Mary and she loved every one of her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren who she cared for regularly.
Her faith in the Lord was deep and her relationship with Jesus blossomed as she matured. Praise and Worship music was her favorite genre and she was particularly fond of Israel and Jonathan Lee, the worship pastor at Living To Go Church.

Christmas and Thanksgiving were among her favorite holidays. Each Christmas she would get a tremendous amount of joy by blessing her grandchildren through her giving heart. Gathering with her family at Thanksgiving was an annual highlight of Mary's. Although she didn't cook the feast, she enjoyed eating the broccoli and cheese casserole, bread pudding, and cranberry sauce. When recalling her specialty in the kitchen, her family will always remember her hearty homemade biscuits and sausage gravy.

For twenty years, Mary was a devoted bookkeeper and office manager for Adams, Taylor, Philbin, Pigg, and Marchetti Law Firm of Nashville. Her tireless effort and incredible work ethic shined throughout her tenure with the firm. Her work ethic was gleaned from watching her hard-working parents, and this she passed on to her own children. Mary even walked to work; in fact, she didn't even own a car until she was sixty.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Arlene Hunt; and granddaughter, Alysa McLean Willett. Mary is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Daryl) Willett; sons, David (Tammy) Jeffers, Willie Jeffers; seven grandchildren; sister, Edna Jenkins; several nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends; especially those from the Prayer Team and Prime Timers Group at Living To Go Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's honor to the building fund of Living To Go Church, 44 Music Village Blvd., Hendersonville, TN 37075.
