Marlene Byrd Collins, a beloved mother, grandmother, and wife passed away peacefully May 12th, 2022, in the presence of family and loved ones.
Marlene was a devoted Marine wife and mother. She loved having large family gatherings especially during the holidays. She loved travel and enjoyed many trips with her husband John. Together they traveled to 37 countries and innumerable cities.
As a member of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, she had been involved in many activities, events, and charities. She volunteered weekly at the Nashville Rescue Mission and was a supporter of the Sumner County Humane Society.
Marlene was a tax auditor for the State of Tennessee for over 30 years before her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dottie Hitt; Stepfather, Buford Hitt; her husband, Richard Byrd; her eldest son, Rick Byrd, and her much loved grandson Austin Byrd.
She is survived by her husband, John Collins; sons, Larry Byrd, Chris Byrd (Angie), Tim Byrd (Kathleen); 6 grandchildren, Brittany Byrd Bolen (Jason), Luke Byrd, Lacey Byrd, Andrew Byrd, Ashley Byrd, Chance Barrett (Holly), and 3 great-grandchildren, Laken Marie Barrett, Paisley Austin Barrett, and Karter Daniel Bolen.
She will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 1 P.M. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
