Maria Antonia Oquendo

Maria Antonia Duke Oquendo, a cherished daughter, sister, mother, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024, at the age of 42. Born on March 13, 1982, Maria was a vibrant soul whose love for life and unwavering spirit touched the hearts of everyone she met. 

Maria’s kindred spirit was a beacon of light, illuminating the lives of her family and friends. She had a deep love for the ocean, finding peace and joy in its waves, and her beautiful daughter. Maria was also a devoted pet owner, often referring to her fur babies as her beloved companions.

Known for her inner and outer beauty, Maria possessed a warrior spirit that inspired those around her. She faced life’s challenges with strength and grace, and her laughter and warmth will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Maria is survived by her daughter, father, brother, and a vast network of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. A celebration of her life will take place on September 15, 2024, at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, 353 East Main St, Hendersonville, TN 37075, from 1-3 PM, where friends and family can gather to honor her spirit and share stories of the joy she brought into their lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local animal shelter, in honor of Maria’s love for animals. Though she is no longer with us, Maria’s love and vibrant spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
