Margaret "Margie" Mccorkle

May 5, 1953 — December 31, 2022

Margaret “Margie” DeGrella Hansel McCorkle, age 69, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, following a lengthy illness.

Margie retired from Metro Davidson County Health Department after many years of service as a programmer.  She continued with a second career at PetSmart.  She had a love of animals and adopted many of the animals that needed a home.  When not taking care of her animals she loved the ocean, walking on the beach and when not doing that she loved needle point, listening to Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, John Mellencamp, Jimmy Buffet, and dancing.  Margie’s sweet spirit will be missed by all.

Margie is preceded in death by her husband Andy McCorkle, parents George and Mary DeGrella, and sister, Marcia Shaffer.  She is survived by her son Mark Hansel, siblings Marie (Louie) Bervoets, Joan (Johnny) Holmes, George (Jeanne) DeGrella, David (Nancy) DeGrella, Cheryl Conquest, Cathy (Roger) DeShone, Thomas DeGrella, and John (Rita) DeGrella along with brother-in-law Buddy Shaffer and 21 nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 11am-1pm at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church.  A funeral mass will begin at 1pm with Fr. Thomas Kalam officiating.

Cremation will follow funeral service with interment at a later date in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Margie’s memory to the Nashville Humane Society.
