Mr. Marcus Neil Sumners age 91, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021.

Mr. Sumners was born in Coldwater, TN, on May 4, 1929, the son of the late Leon Sumners and Clara Mae Cole Sumners. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War where he was awarded the purple heart. Mr. Sumners was a member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. He worked many years in the grocery store business as a manager. Mr. Sumners retired as an account executive of a food wholesaler. He enjoyed gardening, yard working, painting, and building things. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sumners was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Sumners and two brothers, Wilburn and James Cole Sumners.

Survivors include his four sons, Ralph Sumners, Barry Sumners (Carol), Billy Sumners (Donna), and Terry Sumners (Sharon); niece, Ginger Day (Jason); ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., Hendersonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens with military honors.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at Hendersonville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
