Marc William Cormier, 56, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born on December 12, 1959 in
Waterville, Maine to Ronald and Rita, Marc spent most of his life hunting, fishing, and racing horses in central Maine before moving to the warmer climate of Tennessee.
After proudly serving as an airman in the United States Navy on the carrier U.S.S. Independence (VA-87 Golden Warriors), he spent 17 years working on naval ships for Bath Iron Works. His love for the Navy was eventually surpassed by a new passion: technology. Upon moving to Tennessee, he converted to a career in the IT industry, working for prestigious companies such as Dell, Community Health Systems, and LifePoint Hospitals. His dedication and incredible work ethic influenced many, co-workers and family alike.
Marc married his wife, Lisa Marie (Spencer) on November 15, 1986, and spent the next 29 years building a legacy that encompassed three children and four grandchildren. Marc was known as a light-hearted soul, with unwavering patience and fierce loyalty to his family and friends. In addition to hunting, fishing, and technology, his interests also included firearms, carpentry, and even video games. Many of his skills and mannerisms can be observed in his three children - none more evident than his sarcastic wit.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lisa; children William and Ingrid of Hendersonville, Bernard and Lesley of Bellevue, and Kayla of Hendersonville; grandchildren Ariel, Mason, Ava, and Zavier; mother Rita of Clinton, Maine; siblings Frederick and Debbie, James, Denise, Deborah and Elena, Silke, as well as a large extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Marc is predeceased by his father, Ronald, who passed on March 29, 2015.
Public visitation will take place Wednesday, January 13, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Hendersonville Memory Gardens on 353 Johnny Cash Pkwy in Hendersonville. The funeral, as well as a graveside service with full military honors, will be held on Thursday, January 14, at 11 a.m., also at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. An on-site reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675
