MCCUISTON, Macon Hamlin, "Mr. Mac", age 94, Nashville, October 24, 2009. He was born in 1915 to Thomas Monte and Flora Myrtis Hamlin McCuiston in Kirksey, KY. Preceded in death by parents, eleven siblings and in 1954, his wife Velda Rose Cox McCuiston. He is survived by daughters Ruth Diane Roger Smith and Sue Fred Zapp; step-grandson Zachary Smith; grandsons Nathan Marissa Zapp, Justin Kelly Zapp; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special friend Maxine Mitchell. Mac served in a volunteer U.S. Army Infantry unit during the WWII campaign on the Italian front receiving a purple heart. He retired from Ford Glass Plant after 37 years with Ford. He was an active volunteer for VFW, UAW Local #52 and various church activities of Charlotte Ave. Church of Christ and then Western Hills. The family wishes to thank The Meadows Nursing Home and Alive Hospice for their kindness and care. Memorials may be made to either institution. The funeral service will be at 10 am, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Gynnath Ford officiating. Interment to follow at 3 pm at Highland Park Cemetery, Mayfield, KY.
