Loretta Stinson Gray

Loretta Janette Gray, maiden name Stinson, was born in Nashville, TN on May 10th, 1941, daughter of the late Horace Stinson and Mary Kathryn Stinson (Anderson).

A loving wife and homemaker, Loretta devoted her life to caring for others, first as “Mom” raising her 3 children and then as “Nana” assisting in the childcare of all 8 of her grandchildren. She loved gardening, bowling, camping, and spending time talking with her cherished neighbors, friends, and family. Her last year of life, Loretta cared deeply for her friends at Elmcroft Hendersonville and enjoyed playing bingo, crafting, and spending time outside.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Vernon Lee Gray and her brother Gerald Stinson.

Survivors include her two sons, Daryl Gray and Jeff Gray (Laura); daughter, Misty Gray-Winnett (Kenneth); three sisters-in-law Bertha Carney, Carrol Darks, and Shirley Shrader; Grandchildren, Ashley Greer (Chris) Brittany Gray (Tyler), Chelsea Gray Ehinger (Noah), Logan Gray, Derek Gray, Abigail Winnett, Paige Winnett, and Lincoln Winnett; six great-grandchildren; and niece Tammy Stinson.

A Celebration of Life service for Loretta will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main St. in Hendersonville on Monday, October 11th at 1:00 P.M., officiated by Neil Pedigo. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 10th from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. and again on Monday, one hour prior to the service time. Burial will follow the service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
